Morning
Start your day off with breakfast at a local eatery. My recommendation is Sinangag Station
Sinangag Station is a beloved breakfast spot known for its hearty and flavorful Filipino breakfast dishes. The eatery has a simple, no-frills ambiance that feels welcoming and homey, perfect for starting the day right. Their menu features a variety of “silog” meals, which include fried rice, eggs, and different types of meat like tapa (beef), tocino (sweet cured pork), and longganisa (Filipino sausage). Renowned for its generous portions and delicious taste.
Sinangag Station is a favorite among locals and visitors looking for an authentic and satisfying Filipino breakfast experience. They are located in LG Gardens, across from the Sebastian Hotel. They have the best silog in Lapu Lapu!
Mactan Shrine
Next, head over to Mactan Shrine, a monument to the local hero who defeated Ferdinand Magellan. The site offers a mix of history and beautiful seaside views and is within walking distance from LG.
After visiting the shrine, you’ll probably want to return to your accommodations, turn on the AC, and take a nap. The combination of a hearty breakfast and being out in the warm tropical heat and humidity will make you feel like you’ve been chloroformed!
Midday
Cebu and Lapu Lapu City are famous for their guitar-making industry. If you are a guitarist like myself, I recommend you take a tour of a guitar factory to see how these beautiful instruments are handcrafted.
Afterwards, head to Nimo Brew. Nimo Brew is a cozy and inviting coffee shop known for its warm ambiance and excellent coffee. The interior features a modern, rustic design with comfortable seating, making it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. With a menu that includes a variety of coffee drinks, pastries, and light snacks, Nimo Brew provides a perfect spot to unwind, enjoy a good book, or simply savor a delicious cup of coffee in a friendly environment.
Late Afternoon
The Bluewater Resort is one that comes to mind.
It’s a relaxing beachfront destination known for its beautiful views and great amenities. The resort features well-kept grounds with a mix of modern comfort and traditional Filipino style. Guests can enjoy comfortable rooms, several swimming pools, a private beach, and dining options with both local and international dishes. With activities like water sports and spa treatments, Bluewater Resort is a great spot for unwinding and enjoying the natural beauty of the Philippines.
Find one that fits your budget and go relax in the water and take in the beautiful sunset.

Tips to Blend In
Learn a few basic phrases in Cebuano. Greetings like “Maayong buntag” (Good morning) or “Salamat” (Thank you) are appreciated.
Dress casually, something light and breathable works best in the tropical heat.
Be respectful and polite. Filipinos are known for their hospitality and you should also be hospitable. Don’t be a loud, obnoxious foreigner. Talk at a normal volume, don’t act arrogant like you own the place. Be a good example of someone from your country of origin.
